What is Church?

Quite simply, we understand ourselves to be part of God's family who happen to gather together in the Eltham area.

How did we come to see ourselves as part of God's family? That's where Jesus comes in. In short, we believe he included us.

The bible is where we get that notion from and so, as you can probably imagine, Jesus and his words to us (contained in the bible) are pretty important parts of our lives.

What does Church do?

More than marriages and funerals! Not to say they're not important, they are key rites of passage in a person's life. Passing through them though, is a lot easier if you're alive spiritually by being connected with God.

We've discovered an interesting truth, the better we connect with God, the better we are able to connect with others and the world around us.

We're not saying we've got all the answers. That's not going to happen this side of heaven. Like everyone else, we have to play the hand that is dealt to us. It leaves us dealing with the same questions and issues as everybody else. However, this connection with God we've discovered certainly helps.

We're learning to embrace mystery, walk by faith and hold fast to guidelines from God that can be worked out in real life.
